- The metal can be painted in any colour and a range of decorative effects including glazes, overlays and metallics. This example shows clear acrylic paint over acid etched finish. Several coats of acid have been applied between buffing with different metals to bring out a subtle range of hues. This technique provides a finish that resonates with the overall design and materials.
